Kaung Khant Ko is a dedicated community contributor and social worker from Taunggyi, Shan State, Myanmar, with a strong focus on peacebuilding, community development, and youth empowerment. His multidisciplinary academic background, extensive research experience, and leadership in various community and international initiatives reflect his commitment to fostering sustainable peace and social cohesion in Myanmar and beyond. Kaung Khant Ko began his academic journey at Taunggyi University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. During his undergraduate studies, he demonstrated exceptional academic performance, being recognized as Outstanding Student of the Year for two consecutive years (2017-2018 and 2018-2019). In addition to his academic achievements, he served as Class Representative Leader throughout his university tenure, where he honed his leadership and organizational skills by representing and advocating for his peers. Seeking to deepen his understanding of community dynamics and development, Kaung Khant Ko pursued a Research Diploma in Community Development at the Community Leadership & Research Institute under the Thabyay Education Foundation. This program equipped him with practical skills in social studies, research methodologies, project management, and community engagement, enabling him to design and implement effective grassroots initiatives. Currently, Kaung Khant Ko is advancing his expertise as a Master of Arts candidate in Peace Studies at the Myanmar Institute of Theology. His graduate studies focus on conflict transformation, peace research methodologies, leadership development, and the political economy of peacebuilding. Complementing this, he is also enrolled in a Diploma program in Constitutional Law at Irrawaddy Law School, broadening his knowledge of governance, legal frameworks, and human rights, which are critical to his work in community development and peace processes. Throughout his career, Kaung Khant Ko has accumulated extensive research experience, contributing to various projects that address key social issues in Myanmar. As a youth researcher with the Pyin-Nyar-Man-Daing Institute, he led research on the peace process and youth organizations, employing qualitative methods such as focus group discussions and data analysis to generate actionable insights. His work with MOSAIC Myanmar and the Mekhong Economic & USIP projects involved coordinating local governance research, engaging with community leaders, and preparing comprehensive reports to inform policy and development strategies. His research interests encompass peacebuilding, youth engagement, gender equality, religious diversity, and local governance. He has contributed to studies on gender stereotypes and youth perspectives on peace, highlighting the importance of inclusive approaches to social development. Kaung Khant Ko’s ability to bridge academic research and practical community work has been instrumental in driving impactful initiatives. In addition to his research roles, Kaung Khant Ko has demonstrated strong leadership and project management capabilities. As Project Leader for the Peace Incubator Project, a collaboration with the Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy, he trained and mobilized over 150 youths across Myanmar to promote social cohesion and peacebuilding efforts. His role involved curriculum development, workshop facilitation, and mentoring youth leaders to become agents of positive change in their communities. Kaung Khant Ko also served as a Youth Peace Ambassador for the Myanmar Institute of Peace and Security (MIPS), where he educated university students on the Myanmar Peace Process and facilitated dialogues on social change, conflict resolution, and youth participation in peacebuilding. His commitment to youth empowerment extends to his position as Deputy Secretary of the Taunggyi District Youth Affairs Committee, where he supports youth development initiatives and community engagement programs. His leadership and expertise have been recognized at both national and international levels. Kaung Khant Ko has represented Myanmar at prestigious forums such as the Japan-ASEAN JENESY Exchange, ASEAN Youth Conference, and Model ASEAN Meeting. These platforms have allowed him to engage with peers from across the region, exchange ideas on regional cooperation, and advocate for youth-led peace and development initiatives. Kaung Khant Ko is proficient in research design, data analysis, facilitation, digital literacy, and project coordination. He is known for his teamwork, strong work ethic, and ability to foster inclusive partnerships that address the needs of marginalized groups. His interdisciplinary approach integrates academic rigor with community-based action, making him a valuable contributor to peacebuilding and social development efforts. Looking ahead, Kaung Khant Ko aims to continue advancing his research and leadership in peace studies, constitutional law, and community.
